Wounded Game Blood Tracking
No matter if you’re a seasoned pro, a youth on your first outing, or an outfitter, we’ve all made an imperfect shot that wounds an animal. Ethical hunters know it’s our responsibility to do everything possible to recover that animal. The best way to ensure the animal is recovered is to call a certified tracking dog, or a team in training.
Quick Tips For Preparation:
- Be patient and if you don’t see it fall, wait a bit longer.
- Jot down scenario details – time, distance of shot, where you in a stand – if so how high. was the shot at an angle or level with animal, what equipment was used, reaction of animal during shot cycle.
- Be up front with tracker, and yourself. Did you search after the shot? If so, what did you see or find
- Clearly mark the hit site so that you can take someone to it.
